The BMW of Orland Park staff invited several honored guests to the ribbon cutting including Daniel McLaughlin, Mayor of Orland Park. At the event, visitors toured the new BMW showroom, service area, client lounge and BMW lot. The BMW of Orland Park team extends a big thank you to all who attended and enjoyed the event.

The new Orland Park BMW facility is on over eight acres with an 18-car showroom and 24 service bays. The facility was designed with the BMW client in mind with a luxurious BMW client lounge and many more additional amenities. Since its inception, the championship has been frequently held at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont, Illinois. Although the event has been held elsewhere, the championship still remains largely a BMW Chicago event. This year sparks excitement in the heart of Chicagoans as the BMW Championship will be held at Conway Farms in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Conway Farms offers golfers the chance to compete on a link-style course. The event is run in part by the Western Golf Association which has determined the 2013 Conway Farms BMW Championship’s return to Lake Forest, Illinois.

Some golfers, like top-ranked Luke Donald, consider Conway Farms to be a better course than Cog Hill and are enthusiastic about the BMW Championship being held there. Conway Farms offers a tighter golf-playing experience as well as a more aesthetically pleasing one. The course promotes walking, using caddies and a short two minute window to search for lost balls, thus encouraging fast-paced, aggressive play. This information will be used to improve BMW’s first mass-produced electric vehicles, the i3 and i8, which debuted at the L.A. Auto Show in November 2011. This field trial is an exciting and important step toward developing high-performance electric vehicles. With the BMW ActiveE sedan, drivers can expect the same BMW German-engineered performance with the addition of the new environmentally friendly all-electric ActiveE drive system and a powerful lithium ion battery. Data from this trial will go directly into product development for vehicles that will be released in the near future.

To become part of this trial, electronauts must apply online and complete a home energy evaluation to determine if the BMW ActiveE charging station can be installed. This consultation costs $100, which will be refunded as an installation credit. Electronauts will be signing a non-renewable, two-year lease and receiving their vehicles in early 2012 directly from the state-of-the-art factory in Leipzig, Germany. The lease includes $2,250 down and monthly payments of $499. Urban drivers in Europe and China will also be getting in on this exciting new field trial.
